To set up the balls for a game of pool, follow these standard guidelines:
1. Place the 1-ball at the front of the rack (the apex ball).
2. Arrange the other balls in a diamond shape behind the 1-ball, with the 8-ball in the center.
3. The 2 and 3 balls should be placed in the corners of the second row.
4. The remaining balls can be placed randomly within the diamond, as long as the 8-ball remains in the center.
